Hey everyone, I need help deciding between IFB and LG washing machines. After a lot of research, I’ve narrowed it down to these two brands, but I’m still confused.
I’m looking for a front-load washing machine (7-8kg capacity) for a family of four. My budget is ₹35,000 to ₹40,000. The main things I’m concerned about are:
- Wash quality (which one cleans better?)
- Durability & build quality (which one lasts longer?)
- After-sales service (which company provides faster support?)
- Maintenance (which brand needs fewer repairs?)
I’ve read that IFB has better wash technology with features like Aqua Energie for hard water and 3D wash, but some people say their after-sales service is slow. On the other hand, LG has Direct Drive motors, which reduce noise and vibration, and their service is supposed to be more reliable.
Can someone who has used either of these brands share their experiences? I don’t want to regret my purchase later!

I almost bought an IFB washing machine, but after speaking to some friends and reading reviews, I went for LG 8kg Front Load (FHV1408ZWB). Here’s why:
- Direct Drive Motor – No belts = less noise, less vibration, fewer breakdowns.
- Service & Support – LG has quick response times, especially in metro cities.
- Less Maintenance – No external water softener needed; drum cleaning is easier than IFB.
- Smart Features – The ThinQ app lets me control the machine from my phone (cool but not necessary).
Not saying IFB is bad – their wash quality is definitely top-notch – but I didn’t want the headache of frequent maintenance or slow service. LG has been smooth sailing so far
had an IFB machine for 6 years before switching to LG last year, so I can give you a good comparison.
IFB Pros:

If you want performance, go for IFB. If you want less maintenance, go for LG.
If you’re in an area with hard water issues, IFB is a better pick. But if you want a trouble-free experience, I’d say LG. Also, LG’s top models have AI-based washing, which adjusts wash cycles based on fabric type. IFB is still catching up on that front.
And if after-sales service is a big concern for you, check reviews from your own city. In some places, IFB’s service is great, while in others, people complain about delays. LG usually has a more consistent service network.
A Small Tip – if you’re buying LG, get the inverter model. It saves electricity and makes less noise. For IFB, buy a genuine stand to reduce vibrations during spin cycles.
