Hey guys, has anyone used the Elica FL 600 Slim HAC MS NERO chimney? I'm planning to get one for my kitchen, but I’m not sure if it's worth the money. Any thoughts or reviews from those who already own it?
Hi, I’ve been using the Elica FL 600 Slim HAC MS NERO for around 6 months now. So far, I’m quite happy with it. It’s sleek and fits well into smaller kitchens like mine, so that’s a plus. The suction power is decent, though if you’re doing heavy Indian cooking with lots of frying or masalas, you might need to run it on high speed. Noise levels are reasonable on low and medium settings, but it can get a bit loud when cranked up.
One feature I really like is the auto-clean function. After years of dealing with greasy chimneys, this has been a lifesaver. It doesn't eliminate manual cleaning completely, but it does reduce the hassle. Overall, if you’re looking for something budget-friendly but still effective, it’s a solid option.
I’m also considering this model, but I'm confused about whether the suction power will be enough for heavy-duty cooking. We do a lot of deep frying at home, especially on weekends, and our current chimney doesn't seem to handle it well. Will this model keep my kitchen smoke-free during those times?
I have a similar cooking style at home—lots of frying, tadkas, and using spices. The Elica FL 600 does a decent job, but if you're expecting the kind of suction that will leave your kitchen absolutely smoke-free after intense frying, this might fall a little short. For regular cooking, it's great. But during those deep frying sessions, you might still have some lingering smoke or smell even after running it on the highest speed. One tip: make sure your kitchen has proper ventilation along with the chimney, because that really helps.
I’ve been using it for about a year, and while I agree with most of what’s said here, there are a few cons that I think you should know before making a decision:
-
Noise on High Speed: If you're sensitive to noise, the high-speed setting is quite loud. It’s not unbearable, but definitely noticeable, especially in a smaller kitchen.
-
Suction Could Be Better: As some others mentioned, for heavy-duty frying or cooking with strong masalas, the suction power isn’t always enough to clear out all the smoke and smell. It works well for lighter cooking though.
-
Auto-Clean Function: While the auto-clean feature is handy, it's not a complete solution. You'll still need to do manual cleaning occasionally to keep it working at its best. Grease builds up over time, especially if you cook a lot of oily food.
-
Installation: The installation service was decent but delayed. If you’re in a smaller town, you might face some delays with installation services, so plan accordingly.
Overall, it's a decent chimney in the budget range, but just keep these drawbacks in mind before making your decision.
I’m thinking of upgrading my current chimney to the Elica FL 600 Slim HAC MS NERO. How’s the build quality? I’ve had chimneys in the past that started rusting or looking old really fast. Does this one hold up well over time?
The build quality is quite sturdy, at least in my experience. The black finish gives it a premium look, and it’s easy to clean. I haven’t noticed any rusting or wear so far, and I've had mine for about 8 months now. It does require regular wiping to maintain the finish, especially in Indian kitchens where there’s often a lot of oil and spices being used. Just make sure to clean it properly every now and then to keep it looking fresh.
However, I want to add to what others have said. If you're someone who wants a chimney that doesn’t take up too much space and still offers decent performance, this one fits the bill. It’s especially good for compact kitchens like the ones you find in apartments. We’ve had it for a while now, and it's doing a good job for everyday cooking.
However, as others have pointed out, if you're into heavy-duty cooking—lots of frying, etc.—you might have to manage your expectations when it comes to suction. But for regular chapatis, curries, and occasional frying, it works well.
Also, installation for me was smooth (I’m based in Delhi), but I know in smaller cities or towns, service can be a hit or miss. So check with your dealer beforehand.
