Has anyone tried the "Elica noiseless chimney"? I saw their ad claiming it’s super quiet, but I wonder if it’s genuinely silent or just a marketing gimmick. My kitchen is quite compact, so any noise just echoes around, making cooking a bit annoying. If you've used it, how quiet is it really?

I actually installed the Elica noiseless chimney a couple of months back. To be honest, it’s quieter than most chimneys I’ve used before, especially compared to my older model, which would roar every time I turned it on. It’s not "silent" per se, but it's much more tolerable, especially if you’ve got the TV on in the background or are having a conversation. If you're looking for completely noise-free, though, this might not be it – but it’s definitely low-noise and ideal for smaller spaces where sound tends to amplify.

I think it really depends on your expectations. I wouldn’t call it noiseless, but I’d say it’s significantly quieter than average. If you’ve used the old Kutchina or Glen chimneys, you’ll definitely notice a difference. But completely noise-free? Not quite. It’s like comparing a humming fan with an old generator.

Also, I think it’s important to note some drawbacks too – just to give a balanced view. I have the Elica noiseless model, and while I do love the reduced noise, there are a few cons that others should keep in mind:

Suction Power: Because of the reduced noise mechanism, it feels like the suction power is slightly compromised. If you cook a lot of tadka-heavy dishes or deep-fry often, the kitchen can still get a bit smoky.

Maintenance: This model has a filterless technology, which is great for minimal cleaning, but I still notice oil deposits after a while. It’s not as low-maintenance as it claims to be.

Noise at High Speed: At lower speeds, it’s super quiet, but when you crank it up, the noise does become noticeable. It’s better than most, but the high-speed setting isn’t what I’d call quiet.

Higher Cost: It’s priced higher than some other models with similar suction power and features, so you’re paying a bit extra for the "noise-free" tech.

Overall, I like it, but these are things to keep in mind if you’re considering it.

Another tip for anyone considering a "noiseless" chimney: installation matters! I had my Elica installed a little lower than recommended initially, and the noise was more noticeable. When I adjusted it to the right height, it made a difference. Positioning it correctly can help minimize noise, so make sure the person installing it is aware of that

And as far as I know, there’s no truly silent kitchen chimney on the market. All of them have a fan, and with higher suction, some noise is inevitable. Elica and Faber are probably the best options in India right now if you want something quieter, but you’ll always get some level of sound, especially at high speeds. Maybe in the future, they’ll come up with something, but for now, we have to live with a little bit of noise!
